BDS course trains students to become capable of carrying out dental practice independently/under supervision of hospital. Skills taught in this course are- prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting teeth, mouth, jaws and other associated tissues.

Student who have passed 12th and have the back ground subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and English in 12th stream from a recognized board are eligible to pursue this course. Candidate must also have scored a minimum score of 50% marks in PCB subjects (most institutes do have minimum marks criteria).
Admissions Procedure into BDS programmes will be done through entrance test. Students can appear in entrance exam organized at national or university level examinations. NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is mostly considered for providing admission to BDS courses.
