Bachelor of Pharmacy is the art & science of preparing and conferring drugs and medicines for a number of illnesses and deficiencies.
It is a health profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences and aims to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs. The Course teaches us about the medicines and their effect on human body, with details of the chemical and organic properties of all the elements used. Pharmacy education is regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India ( PCI ) , a statutory body governed by the provision of the Pharmacy Act 1948 passed by the India Government & are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) . Admission in the B. Pharmacy courses, student must have to cleared class 12th with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/Biology as subject & at least one has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
Students, those pass the three year Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) are also eligible to purse B pharmacy course. There is no option for direct year B. Pharmacy course. for more details click here
Course duration is 4 years. The 4 years' duration is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of 6 months. In case of each semester, students will have to face one theoretical external examination (main exam). In case of some semesters, practical examinations will also be held, with the subjects being hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy and community pharmacy.
The pharmacy sector offers ample of opportunities to the students after the completion of the course. The students can work in a Pharmaceutical company or can practice as a Pharmacist. After completing the course and obtaining practice license, graduates may work as pharmacists at Government hospitals, private hospitals/clinics or private medical shops.
